What is the PSAT score for the National Merit Scholarship?
The average PSAT score is 900. If your score is 900 or above, you are above average. However, the National Merit Scholarship requires a much higher score than this. To be eligible for the scholarship, you will need to score in the top 1% of all test-takers.
If you’re interested in the National Merit Scholarship, you can start by studying for the PSAT and aim for a score above 1200. PSAT scores are then calculated into index scores to be considered in the 99th percentile. Every state has a different index score requirement so make sure to check with your state.
