IS the GED the same as a high school diploma? 

The GED (General Educational Development) is a high school equivalency diploma, it is equal to a high school diploma. The GED is accepted in universities, colleges, and career technical programs.

How long do I have for each section of the GED? 

The entire GED test takes about 7.5 hours. The math section is 115 minutes long. Language Arts is 150 minutes, including the written essay portion. Social studies is allotted 70 minutes. The science section is granted 90 minutes. 

How long do I need to study for the GED?

It depends from person to person based on their knowledge and expertise in the four subjects. Most people study for several months and up to a year before taking the GED. 

Is the GED test hard?

The GED is comprehensive, but with adequate amount of time to prepare it’s possible to pass. If you’ve been out of school for a few years, it will probably take you a few months to learn and study the material. 

What’s the difference between the GED, TASC, and HiSET? 

The similarity between all of these tests is that they are high school equvilency tests and are all accepted in career programs and colleges. The main differences is amount of retakes allowed, cost, and format of the test.

You should take a GED practice test because it will be a realistic example of what the GED is actually like. Getting used to taking tests under a time restriction allows you to get a sense of the actual test. 

How do I study for the GED?

Studying for the GED can be overwhelming and it can be difficult to navigate where to start studying. The best thing to do before you buy anything to study from is to take a realistic GED practice test. 

If it totally okay if you don’t score well on your GED practice test, the point is to see where you’re at and determine what you need to study. After taking the practice test, notate your strengths and weaknesses, and then find resources that are aligned with your learning style. What should I study for the GED?

For the GED, you need to be sure you’re studying from a GED resource that has accurate material. For example, don’t just randomly study “math”. instead, narrow down your focus to multiplication or exponents.
